Proof Positive: Baking Science
Claire K., Woodlawn Upper School Student, demonstrates “The Science of baking”.
I am associated with Woodlawn School as a student. My booth will highlight the science behind baking through experiments with baking soda and yeast.
How baking soda and acids react to create carbon dioxide and therefore cause cakes and other baked goods to rise. This will be demonstrated with vinegar and baking soda in a volcano format. I will also be showing how yeast activates.

Woodlawn students have been known to share with the STEAMfest community their Woodlawn Senior Capstone Projects, business or service ventures they are pursuing, clubs they have founded or participate in, or other passions relating to topics in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.
