Each year, STEAMfest exceeds our expectations! STEAMfest 2024, held on March 24, was no exception. Between activity booths, educational vendors, artisans, community organizations, stage entertainment, food trucks, and so much more, STEAMfest 2024 brought smiles and joy to youth of all ages within our community!
In addition to matching last year’s attendance records, this was STEAMfest’s largest volunteer group as well! We had student volunteers from 4 area schools, parents, and friends within the community make up our nearly 150 volunteers. They contributed hours of their time and exerted their muscles to bring smiles to at least 1500 guests! STEAMfest would not be possible without this outpouring of support.
STEAMfest also would not be possible without Woodlawn School. Each year, they have opened up their beautiful campus and made STEAMfest a public event, free of charge, for all to enjoy. The mission of Woodlawn School is to produce independent lifelong learners who are responsible contributing members of a diverse global society. Woodlawn is a private, independent PreK to 12th grade school with an integrated project based learning curriculum.
We would also like to thank our event partners Pine Lake Preparatory and the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce who made invaluable contributions of time and resources. Pine Lake Preparatory is the leading non-profit charter school in the Lake Norman region. In addition to multiple activity booths, Pine Lake provided the shuttle buses and parking. The Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce has a long term commitment to supporting educational initiatives in the community. Each year the Chamber helps promote the event to the business community.
Our STEAMfest Patrons, including Reliable Penguin and Worley provided critical financial support with their contributions to STEAMfest. Reliable Penguin provides managed web hosting and consulting services. Worley is a global engineering firm with a commitment to building substantial energy solutions.
The Village Square featured artisans including Samson Glass and Sew Lovely Things, educational vendors including Ludmilla, Art Day, and author Eden Estabrook (Arnie the Armadillo), and Premier Martial Arts, and community non-profits including Davidson Lands Conservancy, FeedNC, Piedmont Animal Rescue, and United Way of Iredell County.
Entertainment on the stage was provided by the School of Rock of Cornelius and Ludmila European Music and Art Academy. Food trucks included Ricky’s Food Truck, Joy Coffee, Rowdy Dog, and KoolKat ice cream. Door prizes were provided by Discovery Place Kids in Huntersville and Sea Life Concord.
We hope you will enjoy the STEAMfest 2024 video by Greg Lindgren with First Media Productions and the photo gallery by Greg and Stacy Zook with Zook Photography made possible by Woodlawn School.

For the second year in a row, STEAMfest recognized two local teachers as STEAMfest Educators, Cathy Denham from Woodlawn School and Coral Riley from Pine Lake Preparatory. Both have been long term supporters of STEAMfest and the STEAM education in their communities. For the first time, STEAMfest recognized two STEAMfest Volunteers for 2024, Molly Maginnis and Gabe Miller. Both Molly and Gabe donated their time and energy to make STEAMfest 2024 possible. Finally, Seana Peele was officially inducted into the STEAMteam. Seana is responsible for the redesigned branding and social media campaigns for STEAMfest 2023 and 2024.
The mission of STEAMfest is to provide youth of all ages with free opportunities to Imagine, Discover, and Explore topics in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics through fun and engaging, hands-on activities.
