Assemble a giant periodic table puzzle while spotting familiar elements and discovering new ones.
At this collaborative STEAMfest station, guests work together to build a colorful periodic table of the elements one piece at a time. Some visitors may jump in for just a few pieces, while others may stay longer and help connect sections of the table.
As they build, guests can notice patterns in the table, compare element symbols, and recognize elements they may have heard of in everyday life, science class, medicine, electronics, or art materials. The activity blends problem-solving, observation, and chemistry in a hands-on, welcoming format.
STEAMteam
STEAMfest is made possible with the help of hundreds of organizations and volunteers, both within the Woodlawn School Community and without. The STEAMteam is responsible for the planning, promotion, organization, and execution of STEAMfest.
Each year the STEAMteam creates a number of activity booths based on the teams skills and experience.
