Use the Energy Stick to complete an electrical circuit with their own bodies, friends, and everyday materials.
Human Circuit Challenge is a hands-on electricity activity that helps guests explore how circuits work in a fun and surprising way. By touching both ends of the Energy Stick, participants can make it light up and buzz, showing that a complete circuit has been formed.
Guests can then work together to form a human circuit by holding hands, discovering that electricity can travel through a connected chain of people. The activity can also include testing common materials to see which ones conduct electricity and which ones act as insulators.
This booth is quick to try, visually engaging, and easy for families to do together. It introduces important science concepts such as open and closed circuits, conductors and insulators, and the idea that electricity needs a complete path to flow.
STEAMteam
STEAMfest is made possible with the help of hundreds of organizations and volunteers, both within the Woodlawn School Community and without. The STEAMteam is responsible for the planning, promotion, organization, and execution of STEAMfest.
Each year the STEAMteam creates a number of activity booths based on the teams skills and experience.
