Light Lab invites guests to explore how light travels, bends, reflects, and forms images through three hands-on mini-activities: Bend the Beams, Catch A Rainbow, and Pinhole Projection.
Light Lab is a hands-on STEAMfest activity where guests investigate some of the most fascinating behaviors of light. Through three mini-activities, participants discover that light can travel in straight lines, bend through lenses, reflect from mirrors, and separate into a rainbow of colors.
In Bend the Beams, guests compare how lenses and mirrors can focus light or spread it apart. In Catch A Rainbow, they use a prism to split white light into its many colors. In Pinhole Projection, they see how a tiny opening can create an upside-down, reversed image without any lens at all.
Together, these activities make optics visual, surprising, and easy to explore. Light Lab is designed to be quick, interactive, and engaging for families, giving guests a chance to experiment, observe, and ask questions as they discover how light works.
